Set in Port Douglas this tropical garden at first glance transports you to the warm and balmy climes of tropical Far North Queensland.
The plunge pool is the centrepiece of this garden and is surrounded by lush tropical planting with interesting textural variations in a mix of exotic and native species.
The open plan interior living area flows to the pool and garden area with a series of timber platforms at different levels that surround the pool and create additional informal seating. The platforms lead to subtly coloured granite paving with granite stepping squares used through the more dense areas of the garden.
Most meals are taken around the pool and the New Guinean sculptural elements and pottery have been positioned to create visual drama and are particularly effective when the garden is lit at night, with the fragrance of Frangipani and Ginger filling the balmy night air. |
